Open Door welcomes Dr. Yousuf Bahrami and Dr. Shereene Grant
Open Door Health Services welcomes two new physicians, Dr. Yousef Bahrami and Dr. Shereene Grant, to its Muncie primary care team. Each will provide family practice and obstetric care, joining Open Door's growing team of nearly 30 physicians and nurse practitioners.
A Muncie native, Dr. Bahrami completed his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University and his Family Medicine Residency at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. During his residency, he saw patients at Open Door’s urgent care clinic in Southway Plaza, a role he will continue on a limited basis. Dr. Bahrami joins Open Door with a specific desire to serve the underserved in Muncie, emphasizing disease prevention.
Dr. Grant attended the Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica and completed her residency at Grant Family Residency in Columbus, Ohio. She has instructed nursing and respiratory therapy courses at the college level and participated in international medical missions, traveling to Nairobi, Kenya earlier this year. Dr. Grant completed an OB-GYN residency elective at Open Door, and she is eager to continue connecting patients with resources that improve their quality of life.
With 8.1% of Hoosier births last year falling into the low birthweight category—defined as less than 5 pounds, 8 ounces and reported by the Center for Disease Control—the addition of physicians providing obstetric care addresses the need for greater access to health resources during pregnancy.
