Hoosiers age 16+ now eligible for COVID-19 vaccination
Updated Mar. 31, 2021Hoosiers age 16 and older are now able to schedule their COVID-19 vaccination.
In Indiana, eligibility also includes certain occupations, including K-12 educators and support staff, as well as certain medical conditions. Pregnant women are also eligible. If you are eligible because of a medical condition or pregnancy, you will receive notification from the state; if you don't receive notification but believe you are eligible, contact your medical provider. Where can I get vaccinated?
Vaccination sites include select hospitals, local health departments, community health centers, and some pharmacies. There is no charge for the vaccination.To learn about vaccination at Open Door, click here.We are currently able to vaccinate ages 18+ due to the brands we offer.
How do I schedule?
Individuals can schedule online or by phone.
To schedule online:- Eligible individuals can visit www.ourshot.IN.gov and follow the instructions to find a vaccination location.- The website will ask questions to make sure you meet criteria.- Vaccination sites closest to you will be shown. You can select any site that is convenient, even if outside of your county.- Choose a site and register for a date and time.To schedule by phone:- For those unable to register online, call 211 to register by phone.- The call center is open daily from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.Registering another individual on their behalf is permitted.> Transportation assistance can be requested by calling 211.> Citizenship is not required for vaccination, and citizenship information is not collected.> Photo ID may be required at the time of vaccination.
The state's plan for long-term care residents to be vaccinated at their residential site through a pharmacy partnership remains intact. However, residents who are mobile are eligible to seek vaccination at the hospital or health department sites if they meet the age criteria.
In Indiana, age is the largest indicator for death from COVID-19. About 52% of Hoosier deaths from COVID-19 have occurred within those ages 80 and older. Ages 60 and older account for about 93% of Hoosier COVID-19 deaths.
